Identity

Weight is here because many decisions are worked out from it. Languages matter if you may be treated where you do not speak the local one.

🔴 Allergies — the most important lines on the card

Write what actually happened, not just the name. "Rash" and "could not breathe" lead to very different decisions. If you have never reacted to anything, write "none known" — that is information too.

Current medicines

Write the active ingredient if you can find it — it is usually printed small under the brand name. Abroad, the same ingredient is often sold under a completely different name, and the ingredient is what travels.

Body and history

The implants line is not paperwork. Metal in the body changes whether an MRI can be done at all, and nobody can see a pacemaker from the outside.

People to call

Add the country code to every number. A local-format number is unusable from abroad, which is exactly when the card matters most.

Card language

Switch to English before printing if you may be treated abroad. Your text stays exactly as you typed it — only the labels change, so staff can find the allergy line without reading Vietnamese.

Making this card actually work

  • Print it and put it where it will be found. A card in a wallet next to identity documents gets found. One saved only in a phone does not, because a locked phone is exactly the situation the card is for.
  • Write what happened, not a label. "Allergic to painkillers" tells nobody anything. The name of the medicine and the reaction you had tells them everything.
  • Update it when a medicine changes, not once a year. An out-of-date medicine list is worse than none, because it is trusted.
  • Tell one person it exists. A card nobody knows about is a card nobody looks for.
  • Going abroad? Print the English version and keep the Vietnamese one too. The English one is read on arrival; the Vietnamese one is what you use when you get home.

Everything you type stays in this browser only. It is never sent to a server and nobody else can see it. Clearing your browser data erases it — so print a copy, and print it again whenever something changes.
