Mammogram Mammography
A low-dose X-ray of the breast, with gentle compression to spread the tissue.
What it can show
Small calcifications and masses in breast tissue, including ones too small to feel.
What it cannot show
Less sensitive in dense breast tissue, common in younger women. Ultrasound is often combined for this group.
This is the half people skip. A normal result answers one question, not every question.
