Radiology Radiology
Producing and reading images: X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and some image-guided procedures.
Who is usually sent here
You come here on a request from another specialty, not for a consultation.
What this specialty does NOT cover
The person reading your images usually never meets you and knows only what the request says — which is why a well-written request produces a better report.
What a first visit usually involves
A technologist performs the study; a radiologist reads it afterwards. The report goes back to whoever requested it.
Bring with you
The request form, previous images for comparison, and tell them about pregnancy or any metal in your body.
Worth asking
- Where do I collect the original images
- When is the report ready
- Is there any preparation
