What to watch for
Kidney function is checked periodically. Digestive upset when starting is common and usually settles — report it if it persists.
Stopping — read this before you stop anything
There are situations where it must be paused: before a contrast scan, during significant dehydration from vomiting or diarrhoea, and during serious illness. Ask in advance what your sick-day rule is.
Tell the prescriber and the pharmacist
Tell the imaging department whenever a contrast scan is ordered. Also mention diuretics or blood pressure medicines.
