Electroencephalogram EEG
Electrodes on the scalp record the brain's electrical activity while awake, with eyes closed, during deep breathing and sometimes during sleep.
What it can show
Abnormal electrical patterns suggesting a tendency to seizures, and some other disorders.
What it cannot show
A normal EEG does NOT exclude epilepsy — many people are abnormal only during an event. Conversely, abnormal waves alone are not enough to conclude.
This is the half people skip. A normal result answers one question, not every question.
