Lung function test Spirometry
You blow as hard as you can into a tube connected to a machine, measuring volume and flow.
What it can show
Whether airways are narrowed, whether the lungs expand poorly, and whether there is improvement after a bronchodilator.
What it cannot show
Gives no picture of the lungs and does not replace imaging. The result depends heavily on blowing correctly.
This is the half people skip. A normal result answers one question, not every question.
