Laryngoscopy Laryngoscopy
A small scope through the nose or mouth to view the vocal cords and lower throat.
What it can show
Whether the vocal cords move normally, and any lesions, nodules, polyps, inflammation or growths.
What it cannot show
Does not assess lesions deep to the mucosa or neck nodes — that needs imaging.
This is the half people skip. A normal result answers one question, not every question.
Tell the staff before you start
Recurrent nosebleeds · blood thinners · local anaesthetic allergy.
Also bring the full list of every medicine and supplement you take. Things bought without a prescription belong on that list too.
