Health checks for women 18–29
Most people this age are well, so the point is not finding disease but setting a baseline: knowing your numbers while they are normal is what makes comparison possible a decade later.
Asked at every age, not just yours
- Blood pressure — the cheapest measurement and the one most often skipped
- Weight and waist, recorded over time rather than measured once
- A complete list of medicines and supplements, including anything bought without a prescription
- Any allergies you have had, to medicines and to anything else
- Family history, with the AGE at which relatives were affected — the age is the detail that shifts a schedule
🫀 Heart and metabolic
- Blood pressure, even with no symptoms at all
- Ask whether your family history warrants checking lipids early
- Activity and sleep habits — give the real hours, not the intended ones
🎗️ Cancer screening
- Cervical screening — ask when it should start for you
- Know how your own breasts normally look and feel, so a change stands out
- A mole that changes shape or colour is worth showing, not watching
💉 Infection and vaccination
- Any childhood doses still missing, plus boosters
- HPV vaccination — ask whether you are still in the recommended group
- Screening for sexually transmitted infections if relevant, and this stays confidential
🦴 Bones, senses and mobility
- Vision, especially with long hours at a screen
- Dental care on its own schedule
- Back or neck pain from work posture — raise it early, before it becomes chronic
🧠 Mental health and lifestyle
- Sleep, stress levels, and any mood that has lasted for weeks
- Alcohol, tobacco, vaping and other substances — an honest answer is the useful part
- Contraception and family planning, if that is part of your plans
What changes this list for you
- A relative affected by cancer or heart disease at a young age
- Taking any long-term medication
- An autoimmune condition, or cancer treatment in childhood
Any one of these can move a starting point earlier or change how often something is repeated. That is a conversation to have, not something to work out alone.
Questions to take with you
- Given my age and history, which item matters most
- Is there anything here I do not need yet
- When should I come back
